| 1193209 | 2011-04-09 12:21:00 | I am working on my son's laptop, running xp pro sp3. I have formatted the drive and reinstalled the XP and it still has the problem which is that it will not shut down, and if put to sleep will not wake up. The only way to turn it off is remove the charger then remove the battery. The computer boots Ok and is quite normal until you try to shut it down. On the other hand, if you use it with out the battery all is normal, no problems. Somehow the battery is causing the problem. The battery charges Ok. Any Ideas? |

| 1193211 | 2011-04-09 12:40:00 | It was restored from the same image which has been used for several years with no problems until now. I had to restore it once before when the Hard drive packed up, but no problems. Strange thing is that with out a battery it is fine. | mzee (3324) | ||

| 1193215 | 2011-04-11 12:36:00 | The problem has been the battery which is about 5 years old. Borrowed another one and it works fine. The battery dropped from 100% charge to 7% charge in 2 days out of the computer. |
