| 1193133 | 2011-04-09 08:30:00 | I watch alot of sports online via live streaming links, and in recent months they seem to have increased a major lag which makes it very unenjoyable - to the point where its like streaming for 30-45seconds then lags for 5-10seconds then streams then lags... it used to be perfect - but got worst over time - i reformatted my computer and updated browser and all that and still is lagging. Internet speed is 4mb/sec upload and 1mb/sec download using winxp professional Its frustrating as want to be able to enjoy the sports - but the lags make it more enjoyable to read text commentary Thanks in advance... |

| 1193135 | 2011-04-09 08:38:00 | Welcome to PF1. The lag is generally caused by internet traffic. Even though your internet speed is fine, when streaming it has to go through many other Servers, and all it takes is one place to have heavy traffic, and theres lag. if you know how the internet actually works its very easy to see what causes Lag. Watch Warriors of the Net (www.youtube.com) -- then you'll see how the internet actually works ( or doesn't) ;) Its an old movie ( light hearted), but basically still accurate today. Around 7.25 will explain why theres lag - Its based on a corporate environment, but still works similar for a home user. |
