1192695 2011-04-07 03:45:00 Asking for a friend, will older programs like Autocad now 5 years old run if he upgrades to Win7?
Cheers Wayne

1192696 2011-04-07 03:59:00 What version of autocad? 5 years old could be 2004-06
06 may work, havent tried it, we were on 09 before we used win7

Lots of problems with 09 on win7, crashes heaps. We should be going to 2011 full time this month (2012 is out now! )

Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate support Windows XP Mode. Home Premium does not.

1192701 2011-04-08 05:26:00 Home premium is listed on the site for XP mode. And if you select it, you can download XP mode Speedy Gonzales (78)
1192702 2011-04-08 05:56:00 Home premium is listed on the site for XP mode. And if you select it, you can download XP mode Yeah you can download it, but it wont install - it comes up with a message saying system not compatible (or similar words).

What pcuser42 posted is 100 % correct.

You can use it though if you have another VM program installed, like VMLite (www.vmlite.com)

1192704 2011-04-08 13:51:00 AutoCAD 2006 and before: NO (Tried that on Vista, no love)
AutoCAD 2007: there's a service pack you can download, which supposedly make it work.
AutoCAD 2008: I'd expect it to work, though never tried it.

If your friend has many old professional softwares, it's probably not a good idea to go to Win7. Software like AutoCAD, Civil3D can get real picky about Win7 (or the other way round).
