1192416 2011-04-06 04:50:00 I am moving from Canada to New Zealand in a few months and was wondering what the deal is with power down there. Am I best off to sell my rig and buy a new one down there, or is there a simpler option (e.g., just swap out PSUs). Any input is greatly appreciated! Vserer (16320)

You may just be able to flick the switch on the back of the PSU, if it has one, to change from 110V to 230V.
Sometimes they are auto sensing but you would need to look at the label on the PSU itself inside the computer.
Otherwise just a replacement PSU would be all you need.

1192418 2011-04-06 05:01:00 We use a nominal household supply voltage of 230v AC at 50Hz - so as long as your gear is happy to accept that you should be fine.

If your PSU isn't capable of handling it, then yes - simply swapping out the PSU is all you need to do.

If it's not on the outside check the inside side.

1192421 2011-04-06 09:48:00 You need to be aware that our wall sockets are a different configuration>..... /....\
And that our power frequency is nominal 50 cycles. That may affect...............|
some appliances - e.g. electric clocks and possibly other appliances
that are frequency/speed dependent.

1192422 2011-04-06 10:00:00 If it doesn't have a switch its possibly auto switching. It will say 120~240v on the power supply if so. Alex B (15479)
1192423 2011-04-06 18:48:00 So if it is auto switching, or switchable in general, I can just buy the proper shape power cord and we're good to go? Vserer (16320)
1192424 2011-04-06 19:11:00 That's right :-)
