1193392 2011-04-11 07:36:00 Is SP1 installed?? If it isnt you have to install this first (from what I've read, SP1 fixed this issue). before you install SP2. That maybe the reason, files are corrupt

Yeah, SP1 was installed while the issue was occurring.
I've installed SP2, but the problem's still here..?

1193393 2011-04-11 08:14:00 Does this have firewire on it ? (support.microsoft.com). Try turning off power saving options Speedy Gonzales (78)
1193394 2011-04-11 08:42:00 its such a rare occurence I never bothered with it. I would guess its a graphics driver. Usually triggered when the computer auto sleeps or when I'm using graphics intensive apps.

At least from memory thats when it occurs with me. The OP's laptop has a different Gfx card although its an ATi and could possibly use a similar driver to mine (HD 3450) that has some bad code as such

1193395 2011-04-11 08:43:00 Yup it does have something to do with something coming out of sleep. It seems to affect laptops more than desktops Speedy Gonzales (78)

As far as I can tell there are no power saving options on.

Yeah, I think it does have FireWire, as the safely remove hardware icon is in the taskbar, for 'OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller'. I have never used it though.

answers.microsoft.com

"Finally i trace the problem to the startup type of the PnP-X IP Bus Enumerator service which was set to Automatic (Delayed Start) instead of manual type as per Microsoft on both my thinkpad. Reverting it to manual resolve my issues. You will find this option in Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Right clic on the PnP-X IP Enumerator service and go into properties. Startup type is listed in the middle of the page."
