1156755 2010-11-27 02:51:00 I really really want them to call me, but I guess I'd have to get a home line before that happened. pine-o-cleen (2955)
1156756 2010-11-27 03:46:00 I've just got off the phone from talking to a foreign sounding lady on a bad telephone line. I think she was saying that "my" computer has a virus in it and if I would like to go to it she would show me how to fix it, which seems to tally with this discussion. She didn't say she was linked with any company.

That sounded like a load of codswallop to me, especially since I'd done a full NOD32 scan this morning, and I told her I thought she was talking rubbish. When I asked her which email address they'd used to ascertain the existence of the "virus" (we have multiple email accounts and multiple computers) and get our phone number she hung up on me.

Does anyone know what these people are actually hoping to achieve?

Thanks

Money.
As always.
Carry on with the conversation and it gets to the part where you give them your card details. That way they get money. Or your card. Or both.

There are loads of dim people who believe this twaddle (and all the other scams) so it's worth their time and effort.
