1156137 2010-11-24 22:26:00 Whenever I go into NL, there really is not many customers .

Things are expensive .
Not much selection . Each shelf area is quite narrow whereas HN's are much wider (longer) .

The last item we bought was a $10 2GB USB thumb drive :D

In Northwood Ch Ch, the same applies,I never go into NL .

1156138 2010-11-24 22:39:00 Recent experience with NL - I contacted the Rangiora store to buy something they had on their website .

Chummy said "we don't have any in stock" .
Me: "Um, could you get one in from the manufacturer, who is in ChCh?"
Chummy: "Well, you could phone the manufacturer and find out if they have that model in stock . If they do, we could order it in for you' .
Me: "Goodbye . "

Phoned HN in ChCh:
Chummy2 . "We don't have any in stock . I will just phone the manufacturer and see if we can get one in for you - the factory may have been damaged by the earthquake, but I will try . I will get back to you asap" .
Me: Thank you, here is my name and phone number . "
Chummy2 an hour or so later: "They have them in stock, and one will be in here tomorrow for you to pick up . "
Me: "Thank you, how much?"
Chummy 2: "$X" .
Me: "Oh, NL have it on their website for "$<X . "
Chummy2: "Oh, we can't have that, you can have it for the NL price . "

And when I went in to pick it up, he not only sold it to me for $10 less than the NL price I quoted him, he also carried it to my car and placed it in the boot .

Nuff said .

1156139 2010-11-24 23:03:00 A few moths back, we bought a Toshiba Notepad from NL at $600 less than HN were prepared to sell to us :) Zippity (58)
1156140 2010-11-24 23:12:00 I have spent a few thousands of $ with NL over the last 3 or 4 years and have had no problems. They even carried stuff out to my car. I think it depends on the managers attitude at different branches as to how you are treated by there sales people.

1156144 2010-11-25 21:08:00 Have you noticed how many empty shops there are around ?
Here in Tauranga there are a quite a few !
And the number of empty industrial buildings is amazing, and yet they keep building new ones !

1156146 2010-11-26 04:27:00 Walking around Nelson yesterday I was surprised at how few empty shops there were, I thought things were a lot worse listening to what's being said, mind you I wasn't spending due to reduced income from not working gary67 (56)
