1157126 2010-11-28 12:03:00 Hi

I've just planted a pear tree and recently I've noticed that a few of the leaves have black edges, like it has been burnt, the leave will become hard and brittle and curl up.

Any advice would be great ~

1157128 2010-11-28 19:13:00 Nasty .... and hope you're not living next to a commercial orchard if it is fireblight SKT. SP8's (9836)
1157129 2010-11-28 19:29:00 Sounds like wind burn, we have the same thing here on our new apple tree, SWMBO has made the garden organic (no nasty sprays) she suggests using neem oil which is available from Mitre 10 you spray it on the leaves gary67 (56)
1157130 2010-11-28 20:25:00 Doubt it is fireblight. Take a leaf in to Palmers or somewhere similar for their opinion. Might only be planting shock if it just new, or spray with copper oxychloride if you think it is fungal. Are all leaves affected, or just a few? Richard (739)

1157132 2010-11-28 20:52:00 Thanks guys ~

At this moment, only a very few leaves are showing this symptom, should I remove those affected leaves or it doesn't matter because it is too late?

1157134 2010-11-28 20:59:00 It's never too late. Take the leaves off if you like, and destroy them just in case, but if any more leaves show symptoms then you will need to take action as suggested.

I hope you are keeping it well watered in this hot weather?

Would be rather crowded if we all did that?
