1156400 2010-11-25 18:59:00 If I bought a computer today, what advantage (improvements) would there be over one that I bought 4 years ago, for the same price that is? Cicero (40)

Hardware wise how would improvements manifest themselves?

And you feel that is to do with modern hardware?

1156405 2010-11-25 20:17:00 Shiny case instead of the old dusty scratched one currently residing near your desk gary67 (56)
1156406 2010-11-25 20:19:00 Depends what you use it for. If its got better hardware / more ram, and its 64 bit. And all you do with it, is browsing, and chatting.Any computer can do that Speedy Gonzales (78)
1156407 2010-11-25 20:27:00 If you want to upgrade you don't have to buy a new PC. Just change M/B, CPU and RAM for example. You may want to put in a better video card and if so you may need a new PSU. Snorkbox (15764)
1156408 2010-11-25 20:32:00 Thanks lads.

I was wondering from the point of view, that some years ago as we all remember they used to notably improve every week, just about, but now it seems improvements seem rather marginal.

1156409 2010-11-25 20:33:00 Well 4 years old it might be in the hard drive failure bath tub curve. So its just a waiting game till it goes. 4 years old is definitely backup everything before exiting computer than weekly. I think moores law has run out of steam as far as processing speed goes.
Take my advice with a grain of salt I am a diesel mechanic not a computer expurt.
