2011-04-14 05:33:00 | Its not quite like the title suggests! My wife likes to watch Masterchef on TV on demand on TV1 but ever since the laptop had a battery problem it keeps buffering (I think). There is only about 5 seconds of action before it all freezes for around 15 seconds then another 5 seconds of action etc. Hardly good viewing!! Laptop runs XP SP3 and has Athlon X2 dual core 2Ghz and 1.7GB. Battery or mains power doesn't make a difference Two other desktops and a little notebook have no problems. Notebook and this laptop are both wireless connections with the same MBPS so to me it seems like its the laptop. Any suggestions?

2011-04-14 06:01:00 | you could try using a wired ethernet connection, just to see if it is a wifi issue | utopian201 (6245) | |
2011-04-14 06:03:00 | Jeese I skim-read that first and saw "...buffer problem with wife!!" and "...only 5 seconds of action!", lucky I read it properly after! Yeah I'd second with Speedy and say the wireless is tripping you up there, buffering for ages is usually internet/network related, at least I assumed so as same YouTube vid fine on desktop PC via ethernet, wireless laptop in the next room = bit flaky sometimes (read: unreliable)

2011-04-14 08:53:00 | Maybe it's a location issue ... the little netbook is better situated  Maybe turn off the other computers and use the (1) computer in question via wireless if it works okay ... Or maybe the wifi unit it has in it .... just isn't that great compared to the other.

2011-04-14 08:58:00 | Is the little netbook watching the same video as the computer in question? If not the video might be higher definition or that the server isn't fast enough to keep up ..... I have this on my internet connection too with some of youtube. | Nomad (952) | |
2011-04-14 11:47:00 | is it a real time a/v monitor issue? | SolMiester (139) | |
2011-04-14 19:36:00 | You are aware that viewing options include "CHOOSE QUALITY" 300K, 700K and 1500K ? 300K may be your best choice. I do it slightly differently on my laptop. It also occasionally has streaming issues. Orbit downloader has a feature called Grab++. It can download the entire program - usually in 3 or 4 segments to your hard drive. I then view them at my leasure. I'm sure many other programs can do the same.
