| 1194232 | 2011-04-13 12:52:00 | I have this problem, and I'm yet to find solutions anywhere . I currently run Linux Mint 10 on my laptop, and it comes with Firefox bundled . . . cool . The problem is, however, whenever I go into Firefox and do a Google search using the search bar, I get a "Mintified" Google search, instead of Google's page ( . google . com/cse?cx=002683415331144861350%3Atsq8didf9x0&q=linux+mint&ie=utf-8&sa=Search" target="_blank">www . google . com) The reason why I'm insisting this is because, apart from the slightly better interface of Google's page, I can't use Google as a calculator . (especially handy for currencies!) I heard that I have to modify a file, but I don't know which one to edit . . . Any help appreciated! |

| 1194233 | 2011-04-13 23:44:00 | a bit old, but apparently this is the method... (I think it's still the same) Go to addons.mozilla.org Install the addon and restart Firefox Go to google http://www.google.com Right click in google search bar and select “add to search bar” Left-click arrow at left side of firefox search combo Select “manage search engine” You should find google at the bottom of the list Move it to the top blog.linuxmint.com or you can do this first and have both: In /usr/share/firefox/searchplugins you should rename google.xml to googlemint.xml and in its content change the name of the plugin to “Google Mint”. Then you can install the google plugin and switch between the two. |

| 1194234 | 2011-04-13 23:46:00 | I think you can use the "about: config" set up and apply a series of scripts. See this forum (forums.linuxmint.com)... | kahawai chaser (3545) | ||

| 1194236 | 2011-04-14 04:38:00 | @bevy121: thanks, it works perfectly! I read, somewhere else, that I just needed to right click on Google's search bar and go "add to search bar", but I can't find that option anywhere. Now I know why... :D @kawahai chaser: thank you for contributing, though about:config did scare me off a bit :) And now I don't know how to add [Solved] in the title; the edit option's gone. |
