1193868 2011-04-12 23:45:00 Right here we go challenge for those who are bored today.

Friend of mine running win 7 home pre.

Doesn't use Windows mail or live mail, does not have a mail client installed. Instead uses Gmail with Chrome.

Question when he wants to send a picture the right click send to- mail recipient defaults to windows mail.

Can this default be changed to use Gmail, I said I doubt it as it would need to open Chrome at the Gmail page.

Have I given false information I don't think so but if anyone out there knows differently I would be much obliged if you told me.

Thanks

1193869 2011-04-12 23:54:00 As far as I know there is no way to do that - you can setup POP or IMAP with gmail though, so you could setup the gmail account to send from Windows Mail. Don't use live mail, the new version insists you use windows live sky drive when sending pics, #$%^&% piece of %^*&, causes no end of headaches. :p wratterus (105)
1193870 2011-04-12 23:58:00 ...Can this default be changed to use Gmail...Yes, this can be done - either you can enter the information directly into the registry, or you can use GMail notifier or Google Talk to achieve the same result.

See here (labnol.blogspot.com).

1193871 2011-04-13 00:03:00 This "might work" (http://www.affixa.com/) - but also may require the account on the PC in live mail for example.

There is also This article (www.google.com) -

AND just to give you something to do :p

There is a app called gattach (www.freewaregenius.com) - not to sure if it will actually send the mail to the Recipient, may just send it to your drafts folder.

Otherwise:
Install Gmail in Live mail on the PC, then the mails can be on the PC and web based.

NO Idea if any of the above works, apart from gmail in Live - that does work - or if the apps work on W7.

Give ya something to play with :D

Don't use live mail, the new version insists you use windows live sky drive when sending pics, #$%^&% piece of %^*&, Eh!!! ???? I just tried it from here, I have gmail installed in Live mail, sent a mail with attachment and it went fine - didn't ask for sky drive ?????

1193872 2011-04-13 00:03:00 Well I learned something today. :p wratterus (105)
1193873 2011-04-13 02:31:00 It looks like Erayd might have solved it for me, will be giving it a go next time I'm at my friends place. I certainly learnt something today, I doubted that it could be done.

Thanks guys for your help

1193874 2011-04-14 11:35:00 I had similar problem. Finally got around it by installing Thunderbird. Works well. nerd89 (14761)
