1193646 2011-04-11 11:25:00 Hi guys! It's been a while but I need the help of some knowledgeable individuals when it comes to installing Windows 7 on a brand new machine that I have only just finished assembling from components of my own choosing. Therefore the machine is yet to ever have anything installed on it.

When I try to install a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate onto my computer, it goes through the POST sequence alright, then goes through the transfer of the necessary files twice - first time quite rapidly, second time more slowly - then when the screen where the Windows logo is just beginning to form, the computer simply reboots. It seems to be stuck in a loop of doing this until you hit the power button.

Any ideas on what the problem could possibly be? I first tried with several HDD in RAID0, then changing it so that each drive will be separated before going back to trying to set up RAID0 again - all to no avail.

Just in case - I am trying to run the HDD in RAID0 off just one power lead from the PSU. Am I possible trying to run too many of them off one lead from the PSU?

I'd be much obliged for any advice/help someone can offer.

There should be an option on one of the install screens. You will probably need to download them to a flash drive/cd, then navigate to where they are in setup.

1193651 2011-04-11 11:46:00 You may have to install third party drivers ( RAID ) during the install. Depending on the motherboard that is.

As helensun says.

Specs for M/B, CPU, RAM and Hd's would help. SATA or IDE drives?

Case: ATCS 840
Processor: Intel i7 930
Mobo: Gigabyte X58A-UD7
Memory: Corsair 6GB 2000MHz
Graphics: MSI R5870 Lightning (x2)
HDD: Velociraptor 300GB (x1)
Seagate MomentusXT (x4)
Peripherals:
Dell Monitor built-in USB Hub

& other assorted peripherals.

Regarding the installation of RAID drivers, it seems to me according to the motherboard manual that installing the RAID drivers happens after you start the process for installing the OS. Or am I mistaken?

Yes. You normally install RAID during the install of Windows.

1193655 2011-04-11 12:08:00 According to the GB site, under drivers

Marvell RAID Utility (SATA3)
(Please install Marvell Console Driver before install Marvell RAID Utility)

GIGABYTE SATA2 Preinstall driver (For AHCI / RAID Mode)
Note: Press F6 during Windows setup to read from floppy.
