1157546 2010-11-30 06:17:00 ??? (i4.photobucket.com)

I don't think it's a 'regular' camera, but if it is a camera, why is the housing so large? I walked past it the other day and saw that it had an oscillating mirror on the left hand side. I install CCTV and I've never seen anything like this before.

It's on the side of a Post Shop, facing a Mcdonalds.

Anyone?

1157551 2010-11-30 06:30:00 I'd go with some sort of CCTV camera/IR spotlight combo. Just a guess though. ubergeek85 (131)
1157552 2010-11-30 06:34:00 Oscillating mirror may be a way for it to look out to the side, without actually turning the whole camera - so those who think being off to the side renders them unseen may be wrong.
If the mirror is spinning, then it's kinda panoramic.
On the other hand, maybe it relates to some form of infra red or motion detection which is watching out to the sides.

It is unusually wide, so there's a lot more in there than your average camera.

1157553 2010-11-30 06:40:00 Apart from looking almost identical to the link I put in post #4.

It could also be a trick question  -- its a red ellipse around a security camera. :p
