1194464 2011-04-14 20:15:00 Yeah, I had some really bothersome FLV files from a university server in the USA. They wouldn't stream properly for me.

Got hold of Orbit and Grab++ and it does the downloading at an advanced rate, and spares me all the sreaming woes. Also then allows me to modify the files and burn them to DVD for archiving and study offline at my leisure.

1194465 2011-04-14 21:31:00 Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try Grab++ in the next few days.

However that is a workaround and doesn't answer why the notebook works and the laptop doesn't when viewing the same programme on TV ondemand from the same place in the house. Forgot to add that the laptop used to work fine until it crashed one day when the battery was taken out when it was running. Does that bit of info give anyone any ideas?

I'm a bit dumb and don't understand "is it a real time a/v monitor issue" What does this mean?

1194466 2011-04-14 21:50:00 Can't help with why only the laptop has problems , or why it started after a crash, but update the wifi driver, anyway.

I found a newer dvr made a big improvement on a couple of wireless machines I worked on recently.

1194468 2011-04-15 00:10:00 You are aware that viewing options include "CHOOSE QUALITY" 300K, 700K and 1500K ?
300K may be your best choice.

Thanks for that Scubadoo. What a simple answer and setting it to 300k (like the notebook!) was the answer. Setting must have been changed accidentally.

Thanks for all the answers

Your anti virus program maybe scanning the stream as it comes up interfering with the buffer...try disabling your anti-virus and see if it makes a difference

1194470 2011-04-15 02:07:00 And if it works with anti virus switched off? Not sure I like that option!! ecurb (3669)
