2011-04-14 02:43:00 | Hi folks Thanks for all your help. I have been having some major computer distruptions since I posted, hence the silence. The .ts file is probably DVB-T given that my connection to Freeview is terrestrial. I think I have that correct. To those of you who are wondering what I have and whether I can merge files etc, I repeat what I said in my original post. There is a folder on the PVR that is called PRIME-03212011-1929.pvr. Inside there are two files as already stated = data0001.ts (1.29 GB) and info.ini (256 bytes). There is only one folder, not two (audio and video). I understand this is normal for a PVR. I have had no luck with the conversion function on VLC - I get video but no audio. I converted with DVDFab, with the same result. I have tried both HDTVtoMPEG2 and HDTV2DVD - one did nothing at all, and the other just provided me with an alert saying it couldn't find a Channel... I know the audio is in there somewhere, because I can play the file with VLC and audio and video both work fine. Playing it with anything else (the programmes that will open it) produces video without audio. At the moment, it is running through Nero 8 after a re-install of Nero (don't ask...) and is claiming that it is transcoding the file (to what?). When that is done, if it is successful, then QED. If it is not, I will try SG's suggestion next. Ultimately I don't care about this particular documentary - I am just using it as an experiment to see if I can produce viable DVDs that can be played in a DVD player. Thanks for all suggestions. Sorry for the inadvertent rudeness in not responding earlier...

2011-04-15 02:05:00 | Handbrake will convert your .ts to mp4 WITH sound! "c:\Program Files (x86)\handbrake\handbrakecli.exe" -i%1.ts -o%1.mp4 vlc will convert just the AAC so is very quick. "c:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" -vvv -I dummy tobeconverted.ts :sout=#transcode{acodec=mp4a,ab=128,channels=2,sam plerate=48000}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=t s,dst=%1}} vlc://quit (the above is one big line!).

2011-04-15 02:34:00 | Well, Nero 8 ran the thing through without a hitch, transcoding for umpteen hours and taking over most of my CPU... I burnt the DVD, and voila, lovely pix, but no sound track. Another coaster. Thanks for the suggestion linw. I will try Handbrake, and if that doesn't work, I will give up...

2011-04-15 03:31:00 | I don't do DVDs these days. When I did I used CopyXtoDVD from VSO Software. Really good & very simple. Real point & push stuff. | PeeCeeWorldly (15890) | |

I tried everything (except CopyXtoDVD - I didn't need it in the finish), but it was linw's suggestion of Handbrake (freeware) that did the trick. So if any of you out there are wanting to transfer .ts files from a Terrestrial PVR to DVD, Handbrake sorts out both the video and audio, and converts the file to .mp4. I used Nero once I had the .mp4 file (my version of Nero is 8.3.2.1, so it is quite old). Nero transcodes the .mp4 (whatever that means!) and then burns it to DVD. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions, but particularly to linw. :clap |
