1157593 2010-12-01 10:08:00 It's not where it might be made, it's what components were used in the manufacture.
And do you know what components are in any other TV brand?

1157594 2010-12-01 10:32:00 The name just sounds a bit dodgy prefect (6291)
1157595 2010-12-01 20:07:00 I would lump Konka in the Transonic category Gobe1 (6290)
1157596 2010-12-01 22:36:00 there are only a very few manufacturers of screens and all brands cheap or otherwise use them. The main difference with the very cheap models & brands is the quality of the materials and components, build quality, and the quality control of the manufacturer. They are usually based on the same designs but use cheaper parts.

They tend to be ok, just have a higher failure rate and lower life expectancy. Most of the time IMO if something is going to fail due to poor construction it will do it fairly early and be covered by warranty I had a 27" transonic TV I gave away after 10 years of faithful service in good going order so cheap can work out. Then again we've all heard stories of things failing 5 mins after the warranty expires.

1157599 2010-12-02 05:41:00 My friend had a 21" Konka CRT for years.

It stood up to having its casing severely melted and being dropped a hundred times.

1157600 2010-12-02 05:47:00 I always thought a Konka was something you had on the end of a piece of string? Cicero (40)
1157601 2010-12-02 06:05:00 I bet you it uses **** capacitors in its PSU\inverter which dry out or bloat up in a year or two. In fact a TV or LCD monitor doesn't have to be a cheap brand to have useless capacitors.

If I bought one I'd replace them all with something decent as soon as the warranty was up.

Other than that they're probably not too bad, as long as the CCFLs aren't badly made too.
