| 1194657 | 2011-04-14 23:58:00 | Have a HP Mini 1000 wont boot Could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt.... I have attached a usb - dvd drive to boot to install cd but the bios doesn't recognize it - being the usb drive any suggestions I have reset the bios to default settings - no change does not recognize the usb drive |

| 1194658 | 2011-04-15 00:23:00 | Got to ask :D was the USB drive actually plugged in when you looked in the BIOS - if it isn't then the option wont be there. You may find its not capable of detecting an external USB/CD drive. You can always copy the OS to a USB pen/Flash drive ( thats bootable) and assuming it's detected install /repair from that. Whats the OS on it ? Edited: if you are using windows 7 (any flavor) use the tool that MS put out, designed to do just an install from USB From here (download.cnet.com) any other OS, (XP example) use Winsetuptousb (www.msfn.org) - Links are under the warning notice on the page. |
