2010-12-14 03:07:00 | See now if you had remote access to your router, and RDP / VNC / LogMeIn / TeamViewer, then you could have set that up, including port-forwards ... But you don't ;) Come to think of it you don't even need remote access to your router if you've got remote desktop of some description coz you can view it through that, but still, you know what I mean :D

2010-12-14 08:28:00 | Link Information Uptime: 0 days, 0:39:02 DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 804 / 13.698 Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0,00 / 0,00 Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,5 / 0,0 Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 5,0 / 12,0 SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 16,5 / 14,5 Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / IKNS Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 12 / 0 Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 1 / 0 Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0 Loss of Link (Remote): 0 Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 60 / 0 FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 574 CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 1 HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 1 And you can see from the uptime value, I am still getting disconnects (since I have not manually rebooted the modem - apparently I have had 8 or so disconnects today - about half of which happened at 9.00AM, when I was at work and my teenage son was still in bed - so no load to speak of). The usual threshold before they send a technician is 10 a day, but because this has been an ongoing problem.... Technician coming out tomorrow... Luckily I have the line maintenance fee to cover me for any re-wiring they might need to do... EDIT: I'm on ADSL2+

2010-12-14 08:59:00 | All your SNR / Attenuation seems fine. Whats your router make / model? If it's the TG585 then I'd look at replacing it personally ... | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2010-12-14 09:30:00 | It's the "awesomeness" (as so eloquently put by wratterus) that is the Thomson - TG585v7 EDIT: Yep - I have an Asus WL-520GU router with a print server built in that I'd like to be able to use (it's been sitting on a shelf for some months now), but since the Thomson also does WiFi, I need to replace it with a plain modem (ADSL2+ capable)

2010-12-14 22:44:00 | Ordered a Draytek from Ascent a few minutes ago... | johcar (6283) | |
2010-12-14 22:57:00 | Awesome stuff! Gonna whack anything like Tomato or Gargoyle onto the WL520GU? It's pretty easy to put the DV120 into PPPoA -> PPPoE passthrough mode, and then just have Gargoyle / Tomato handle the authentication, which means it gets the public IP, so you don't have to piss around with double NAT! :) | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
