1159097 2010-12-13 19:57:00 You're not using WiFi by any chance are you at home? Your pings are a bit high, but other than that I'd suggest that those speeds are certainly acceptable considering your sync speeds.

Why are you asking, is there something wrong with your connection / browsing?

1159098 2010-12-13 20:08:00 wifi with the laptop yes

1159099 2010-12-13 20:57:00 Noise. Stabilises.
Since when?

Yeah I never really understood that either.

I think it means that the router will connect at a slower speed because of the noise, and slower speeds are inherently more stable.

1159100 2010-12-13 23:43:00 Is the noise consistent or only 'introduced' during the negotiation and authentication? Chilling_Silence (9)
1159101 2010-12-13 23:49:00 As I understand the explanation (which was a little over my head!!) the noise is consistent and stabilises the connection (but potentially - not my experience - lowers the download speed by a small margin).

However I have noticed that I am still getting disconnects - albeit not as many - so when he does the follow-up call tonight, it will be interesting to see what the next step is.

1159102 2010-12-14 00:21:00 Post your line details from your router, as GameJunkie did? Chilling_Silence (9)

1159104 2010-12-14 00:46:00 You mean you don't have remote access to your router? My goodness, some people ... :p Chilling_Silence (9)
1159105 2010-12-14 01:02:00 Can't say I really NEED it (not that that has ever been a reason not to get something), although I could have done with a VPN link to my PC at home today, for an entirely different reason!!! johcar (6283)
