1159458 2010-12-07 00:20:00 In ChCh it's been drizzling/raining on and off since the middle of yesterday afternoon, it makes a welcome change from the hot dry weather we been having for weeks.

6mm at Swanny.

1159459 2010-12-07 00:23:00 It's sort of patchy now, bit of a shame. Still, what we got was awesome.

1159460 2010-12-07 00:34:00 Started drizzling about 6pm last night got a bit heavier until about midnight after than no idea but it was not much looking at the rain gauge 3mm to be exact. We had 6mm on the 3rd :clap

Timing couldnt been better though because yesterday afternoon there was a major series of scrub fires along the rail track. Like the cause unknown but a big clue would be the location being remote and beside a railwayline  The fire was practically out by the time the rain came but it was well welcome for dampening down any warm spots. DOC rural Fireys are still keeping an eye on the area.

I wish NIWA would make up its mind for the long term forecast I did note buried deep in the herald article of the wettest summer forecast it mentioned this starting about late Januray. Well long way to go and I bet they will change that forecast next month.

Anyways most of the rain this year fell in September mumma nature has a way of balancing the year out dont you think?

Of course you could go to Aussie if you miss the rain so much?:clap

Go to Eastern Australia then plenty falling there

I found it ironic on the TV3 weather that it has been the driest Spring on record given how darn wet it was in September and the wetest ever! The underside of my house is still dry out from that :waughh:
So I guess the lack of rain in October and November balanced the books on that.

1159464 2010-12-08 07:59:00 Woooo! Finally, nice and steady, down it comes...

Long may it continue, things are too just dry down here for this time of year.
Not nearly enough but better than nothing.
