It was years until they outnumbered tapes at the video store and even longer before movies stopped being offered on both. Even now the video store has a large nuimber of old vhs tapes still for hire.

I have a Blu-ray player and I love it :) but for a lot of people DVD is still good enough and until their existing player dies there's no real incentive to upgrade.

I also have a perfectly good (last I checked) VCR sitting on a shelf gathering dust, can't give it away.

1158869 2010-12-06 07:59:00 Oh yeah, regarding the OP's question - I sourced belts for my old VCR, and an old radio cassette stereo via the local electrical repair shop... (TV, radio, washing machine repairs) didn't pan out as worth my while though, as issues continued to develop in other parts... but if you're the sort who likes the challenge, then you've got sod-all to lose, and experience to gain. 1158870 2010-12-06 08:17:00 When our VCR died I figured, excellent, about time, Then the wife insisted I replace it due to her yoga vids.:(

I bought one off trademe so cheap that when I went to pick it up the seller just gave it to me.Anyhow, I just put it on the stack under the TV, Didn't bother to hook it up, then 2 months later moved it out into the shed where it sits today.:(:(:(

Its never been mentioned:mad:

That aside, Its 2010, we have fully interactive High definition fitness programs, get with the times.
