| 1195361 | 2011-04-18 02:33:00 | Is this the same one you were asking about the other day that doesn't have the Optical drive ? if so Its IE8 thats causing the problems - you can remove it like this: Boot from the XP CD,Select the Recovery Console. At the Command prompt, C:\Windows> Type: CD ie8\spuninst. Press ENTER Type: batch spuninst.txt. (you'll see a load of files flashing past) Press ENTER Type EXIT Press ENTER to restart the Computer, all going well you will be able to activate XP Via the phone option. While those instructions mention XP CD, you can still boot from a USB drive and do the same This will kill IE completely, so you will need to reinstall IE8 afterwards. |

| 1195364 | 2011-04-18 04:28:00 | Just a bit of info on the phone activation -- That wont work either (yet) What happens it says it has to be activated - which is fine, BUT it doesn't get to the point of allowing phone activation, as the window that pops up is not at the stage of showing the 42 digit key you need to enter. ONCE IE8 is sorted / removed, then it allows the window with the code to enter appear. |
