1158858 2010-12-05 02:16:00 They should still be making VCR's. people still use them.

I have a really good HI-FI 6 head NICAM-Stereo multi standard: pal, ntsc, secam VCR that was givin to me, it's awesome! and i can tape things and it will look DVD quality.

well no, It will be VCR quality,And on any screen slightly better then a sun baked gold fish bowl it would look like cat vomit.

What I'm saying is your low-res analogue recording is utter shite in comparison to modern standards.

1158861 2010-12-05 04:06:00 I'm taping "Whose Line Is It Anyway UK" off comedy central.

Comedy Central is compressed like ****.

The VHS looks 10 times better than copies on the internet and youtube. plus the comedy central repeats are uncut.

Yes, VHS's are bad at times, but at the moment, the quality is fine, for me.

You must have some pretty bad DVDs then. Apart from SVHS nothing I've seen on regular VHS comes anything close to DVD.

1158863 2010-12-05 04:45:00 A lot of DVDs of old films etc are just copied from tape so they do look crap. You can find plenty of examples in the Warehouse bargain bins. PaulD (232)

If it isn't HD, it's not worth watching :D

1158866 2010-12-05 17:55:00 Frankly, regular 'low def' TV has been good enough for all my life so far, as has the half of low def VHS standard. I'm really experiencing zero excitement about hi def.

I'd rather not be able to see that a honey like Charlise Theron has a moustace. Sometimes blurry or pixelated can be preferable
Most of what I watch and record is cartoons anyway, so a system that supports a mere 16 colours would suffice for that.

1158867 2010-12-05 23:43:00 I really don't care about Hi def. All the shows i watch are all standard def and are in a 4:3 aspect ratio. goodiesguy (15316)
