1159855 2010-12-08 18:53:00 I am thinking of setting up an IRC server in a data center for me and my mates to use. If I gave PF1ers access would you use it?
And if yes I would set up a PF1 chat and tech channel and set the right permissions.

1159856 2010-12-08 19:03:00 I've voted yes, more of a "maybe" though. We already have ChatF1.net.nz, although it's not been updated since prior to his name-change, it still seems to work well enough. That may change when we go to vBulletin4 though, but I can't imagine it's not something he could easily whip up.

Still, there could be merits in having IRC, provided you setup permissions well enough then why not throw it out there and see how it goes?

1159857 2010-12-08 19:10:00 Yeah I know about Chatf1 but no one uses it.
I will setup global permissions and stuff.
When it is done you and Jen will probably be global ops and anyone else you know you can trust to be a global op. But will have to give you passwords and stuff, but that will be further down the line.
Will start looking at it during the weekend, and also find a web based IRC client, probably "borrow" Mibbit's one.

1159858 2010-12-08 22:49:00 I don't use chatF1 so I doubt I'd use this either. Agent_24 (57)
1159859 2010-12-08 23:03:00 You never know you might use it for live chats with people. nedkelly (9059)
1159860 2010-12-08 23:17:00 If there was IRC support for Digsby I'd be in. pcuser42 (130)
1159861 2010-12-08 23:31:00 Digsby is awesome. There are web based irc clients, when I get set up I will post a link here. nedkelly (9059)
1159862 2010-12-09 04:09:00 XiRCON FTW! Failing that, pjIRC or mibbit for web-based IRCing, and mIRC for proper clients.

I'd be keen, used to be a chan op for #trivia on Webchat. Good times.

1159863 2010-12-09 07:46:00 Was going to use the mibbit client and copy the direct address and make it short with maybe bit.ly nedkelly (9059)
1159864 2010-12-12 19:02:00 Update: Server is installed and almost have InspIRCd set up just a few bugs with the cloaking of ip addresses to fix nedkelly (9059)
