1196482 2011-04-22 10:55:00 Hi all .

Getting a new mouse . I enjoy gaming but I can't be considered hardcore (or even medium-hardcore:D) . Having said this I'd like a reasonable "gaming" mouse .

I've narrowed it down to the above options with reviews and discussion I've read saying good things about them both with the main point of contention appearing to be personal preference (eg mouse size vs hand size, and preferred weight) .

Of interest is the g500 is around $90 . 00 at several places but I can get the MX518 for $35 on special (I will be trying them out in person before buying) .

I'd appreciate your opinions as to whether the extra $55 I'd spend on the G500 would be worth it .

Thanks!

1196483 2011-04-22 21:17:00 I'm using the MX and it's been alright so far. My previous mice all broke. Two OCZ mice worth 60 and 80 dollars respectively broke in a week and a month respectively, and a basic logitech m100 whose left mouse button jams sometimes.

This one's been fine though.

1196484 2011-04-22 21:18:00 Main difference is Laser, the G500 will be more accurate and faster but that would only show up if at all when playing a shooter.

Only a hardcore gamer would notice.

The G500 also has memory meaning you can store your profiles on the mouse. Great if you LAN or take your mouse elsewhere, pointless if you don't.

Went and tried both mice at DSE and bought the MX518 - very happy so far (mind you I was upgrading from a PC company mouse!), espec at $34.30:D
