1196248 2011-04-21 23:07:00 Hi all,

Relative recently bought new PC - www.noelleeming.co.nz

Seemed like an ideal purchase for someone new to computers, simple and ready to use out of the box for browsing etc.

Problem is that the AMD Video drivers are constantly crashing and restarting. I was round there last night, and unfortunately it seems worse than when I left it. I updated the drivers to the latest ones from the ATI website, installed windows updates. There are no problems when using safe mode.

I have told her best to take it back and get them to take care of it, but could anyone recommend any other steps to take to save the hassle of dealing with the customer service?

Cheers for any help that can be given,

GorCh

1196251 2011-04-22 02:52:00 Ok, sorry should have been more specific.

You will be running IE say, and the window will become unresponsive, and after a few seconds the screen will flash to black, recover and a message will come up in system tray saying

"The display driver "AMD Display Driver" has stopped working and successfully recovered. If the problem persists consult troubleshooting".

I also turned off Aero, but the problem persisted.

Seems like a terrible purchase to someone new. Ever dealt, as an end user, with HPs "help"?

I'd take it back.
