1195878 2011-04-20 10:14:00 Hi All.

As some of you know I attempt to write childrens books.

My method is to scribble words onto a lined A4 pad & then type them into MS word document. Two finger typing. I believe there are programmes where one can scan a written page & have it convertd to Type. I think this is OCR.

Is there a good freeware program that will convert pretty bad Printing, not 'joined writing' accurately? PJ

1195879 2011-04-20 10:20:00 Some printers have an OCR option (some of their programs). Whats your printer?? Speedy Gonzales (78)

1195881 2011-04-20 10:32:00 Start Here ( www.cvisiontech.com) PJ.

You should find something usable, but you will have to train it. On that front I think it might be more efficient to write out lower case and upper case alphabets and get it to recognise those first before it starts on real words and sentences.

Cheers

1195882 2011-04-20 10:37:00 I see PJ has a multi-function printer/copier/scanner unit; Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software is often supplied with these to enable the scanner to "read" usually mainly printed material, probably wont work well with handwriting (unless things have advanced since I last used a scanner). :2cents: feersumendjinn (64)

1195887 2011-04-20 11:37:00 If you have office, Microsoft Document Image Scanning can do it. Its very fussy, even with a fully typed up page it can get confused. Why not dictate it and find a typist service? Alex B (15479)
