1160800 2010-12-12 00:42:00 I need to get some Vinyl dye as a part of the dremel project, oh yes its easy to find in the US for $5 a can, so far no luck in NZ (based on searches and websites)

Repco doesn't sell it, resene, mitre 10, mitre 10 mega, bunnings, none of them, well at least not on their websites.

I still have to try super cheap auto and actually going into the shops an asking but before I start traversing all over the town, does anyone know who would actually stock this stuff?

Looks like this: www.plastikote.com

Nothing shows up regarding it on plastikotes international site representing NZ.

cheers

1160806 2010-12-12 03:28:00 Most car paints will melt the outer layer of plastic and "stick" quite nicely. Try taking a sample to a panelbeater / paintshop and ask them to spray it with whatever colour they happen to be spraying at the time and see how it goes. It's usually the Toluene (sp?) in the paint thinners that melts the plastic ... very similar to the glues they use in model making. SP8's (9836)
1160807 2010-12-12 04:27:00 I looked on their site, they have no reference to their vinyl line. I might email them to see of they do stock stores in NZ The Error Guy (14052)
1160808 2010-12-12 04:31:00 I looked at super cheap's site, in very small letters it states they have vinyl paint, i'll get a price off them and if it's outrageous or boarderline then i'll call Esime =, the Plastikote NZ distributors and see what their price is.

Car pain won't work that well in this case because in places there is some engraved detail that would be lost when painted

Cheers for input

1160809 2010-12-14 02:11:00 Ok, checked with super cheap, they sell it for $15-16 a can so i'll get a couple of cans in satin black. Repco also stocked it but for $22 a can i'll stick with super cheap The Error Guy (14052)
