| 1160318 | 2010-12-09 23:17:00 | Got my sister and brother-in-law coming to NZ for the first time. Just planning on showing them around Auckland and outside Auckland. I dont travel much so dont know a lot of places. So far I have got.. Rotorua - One day trip to Skyline Skyrides Taupo - perhaps a weekend there. Any other interesting places anyone know of? Wellington is out of the question at the moment and so is South Island. Thanks |

In the township you can lunch at one of the many cafes and browse the craft/art shops. A few minutes out of town there is the Driving Creek Railway (www.drivingcreekrailway.co.nz) which is well worth a visit (narrow gauge rail line). Around Auckland you could take them to Piha (home to TV show "Piha Rescue"). As mentioned, there are many decent wineries out west/Kumeu area. I know you are not considering Wellington, but if you can grab a cheap return airfare deal, you could go for the day (or overnight) and check out Te Papa. |
