| 1161110 | 2010-12-13 06:09:00 | You gots a spare room, Met? Been living in a caravan for the last couple of months. Funny enough the wife rang me earlier today, A bunch of jigaboos were fighting right outside our house, someone got the bash with a bat, women were screaming, a car was getting thrashed in a circle. She said she could hear the groans of one of the jigaboos that bore the grunt of it, I told her to get the hell off the phone and ring the police, Then I rang my oldboy and asked him to check on her. When he got there he said the street was cordoned off, there were 6 cop cars,2 cars sitting down the street with there doors open, cops everywhere and a few jigaboos getting herded away. Hopefully herded away to be shot. I am wondering if it is related to the lady and child killed in the river last night, that was only a couple blocks over. Welcome to Wanganui. |

In the latest case I would fully support the death penalty. Serious assaults on Police need serious deterrents. At least with the death penalty there'd be no repeat offending (unlike the slaughter by drunks and unlicenced drivers on the roads). If cops can't feel safe with their work, then we may find ourselves with too few cops, and too many violent crims - and then it's a case of pack your bags and abandon this country. If this cop was armed he may now be dead, coz although he survived an incredible beating from a blade, he wouldn't be alive if he had a gun they could have used on him |

| 1161112 | 2010-12-13 07:05:00 | From the Police site, 8:00PM Title: Police to get greater access to firearms Police Commissioner Howard Broad said he will be ensuring his staff have greater access to firearms. Mr Broad has received a draft report on access and availability for firearms. The report is expected to be finalised before Christmas. We will be taking the firearms out of the station and into cars, said Commissioner Broad. It will still be left to the judgment of the individual officer to make an assessment of the risks and the nature of the threat as to when it is appropriate to carry the firearm. We will be giving guidance and training to assist them with this decision. Commissioner Broad said he was committed to ensuring staff safety was the most effectivce and viable possible. He cautioned that providing greater access to firearms would not necessarily make officers safer. The fact that a firearm is more readily available should give officers confidence, It is proposed that police vehicles deployed in rural environments or with a single officer should be equipped with firearms lock boxes. The Commissioner emphasised there was to be no routine arming of police. The report is still to be read by the Minister of Police and to be discussed with senior Police commanders. The Commissioner expected some initial action on the report around the middle of next year. |

And for all of you who are soft on traffic offenders - yes it will cut down on speeding if grenades are automatically launched when speed cameras detect cars over the speed limit. | Twelvevolts (5457) | ||
| 1161116 | 2010-12-13 12:30:00 | When I used a shotgun for the first time, I got a real sense of 'holy **** this thing will kill people'. When someone has a gun, they have the upper hand in any situation. I'd sooner that it was a police officer with a glock 17 than some crim with a sawn-off shotgun. Don't **** around any longer, people are ignorant to how many guns are out there, legitimate or otherwise. Oh, let's not forget the loophole that allows anyone over 18 to buy air rifles. I've seen models with more oomph than a standard .22. Sure, that's not a big gun, but it will still have no problem killing someone. No, cops should not need arms for 'routine' stuff. However, we do need laws that get very tough on anybody assaulting a cop, or a police dog. If there's anything I've learnt from the past few years, it is that - surprise - criminals don't really mind breaking the law. It just is not working. As it is, prison in NZ is a cakewalk compared to a real prison. Sure, it's not a nice place, but it needs to be a real shithole IMO. Not a place for free accommodation. Something Nazi-esq would fit the bill quite nicely. Need some humans to do some experimenting on? Need a hard-labour gang? Want toxic chemicals handled? Now that's a prison. but some form of protection needs to be introduced, something a little more threatening than an electric shock. I can assure you, it's more than 'an electric shock'. Ever seen any videos of it in use? See how the target suddenly just starts screaming? And falls like a sack of spuds? And still keeps screaming? Every muscle is being forcibly contracted, every nerve is being raked with electricity. The target instantly loses control of every function, and feels only intense pain. Ever see the size of the barbs that it shoots? Guess what, you don't really care about them embedding themselves in your torso once you feel nothing but pure pain and agony. Anyway, rant over. TL DR; yes, cops need to be armed to the teeth IMO. |

| 1161117 | 2010-12-13 17:59:00 | Actually, getting the crims working on roadside chain gangs would probably do a lot to send the right message to their peers and kids on the outside. Suddenly they'd start looking for choices in life that wouldn't lead to their legs being in irons. We go too far to protect the rights of the crims, who in turn show no respect for the rights of others. So subject them to hard work and public humiliation. Even if it doesn't fix those subjected to it, it will have an effect on the potential crims of the future. |
