1196669 2011-04-25 11:53:00 Note that the bootloader and BIOS boot order are two separate things, of course Agent_24 (57)
1196670 2011-04-25 22:55:00 Unetbootin had some dialogue come up saying to reboot and change the BIOS settings. Unetbootin had added something to the BIOS so I could boot from the USB.
Unetbootin does not change anything in the bios it just makes a bootable USB drive that is why you had to change the boot order within the bios.

1196674 2011-04-26 04:23:00 I have ClamAV installed only because I get things from Windows users that will get returned and I often use a USB stick with ClamAV when cleaning up trashed Windows PC's mikebartnz (21)

x2 - ClamAV doesn't offer realtime protection, however.

There are viruses and things for Linux, but I think most are very specific to certain versions etc and so are not in general a huge threat.

It would probably be better to have one than not, though.

1196676 2011-04-26 06:38:00 I have used Linux since about 1998 and apart from the very odd scan I have never bothered with antivirus software - the chances of getting something of any seriousness is very slim indeed. johnd (85)
