2011-04-27 04:12:00 | I don't need a CD drive. I had X series Thinkpads for the last 10yrs which doesn't have a CD drive. Don't need a large HD for the laptop. No LAN port? I don't use it often .. but nice to have thou .... I won't go for the i7s, too expensive. The size and weight of the Macbook Air looks v nice. I've got a IPS screen at home so won't be doing any editing nor that I want too during my travels. It's just for previewing export JPG and onto Facebook probably .. One thing I didn't like about the X61T was the size and weight over the X20 (non tablet) which was 1.2kg without the battery. I think the X61T was close to 2kg.

2011-04-27 08:48:00 | The x220 and 2560p are both under 2kg and can be configured with full voltage i7 processors...Battery life is almost 8 hours, or 18hours+ if you add the slice battery. There is no way you would ever get 8 hours out of any laptop that has an i7. That number will be extremely optomistic and will have been tested using the i3 setup. BTW adding the extra battery thingy will increase size and weight. Also from the picture I doubt it is very portable. (size not weight wise). IMO laptop i7's are bad. with the exception of the XM ones.

2011-04-27 10:30:00 | i think maybe 6hrs? my x61T gets 4hr approx with the 8 cell battery (not the 4 cell). assuming one gets a battery that you can fit between the lappie and the ultrabase dock  i think the x series is more like a Mac Probook. The Mac Air Book is temping (!). I don't really need LAN and don't need a external display so don't need to get that mini port adaptor. 64GB should be fine. For web, email and skype and preview images and videos it should do the trick .. i wish maybe PC should have something like that. Not every ordinary Joe/Jane needs 4 USB port, PC Cards and a 2.5" HD.

2011-04-27 10:43:00 | I have a 13' Air, great little laptop, super quick with the SSD. I would recommend the 4GB ram upgrade, but other than that its pretty good out of the box. | Alex B (15479) | |

The dual core i7s are ok (2620m), the quad core ones use more power. www.notebookreview.com This was with an i5 without slice battery (70% brightness, refreshing webpage on wifi with windows on balanced power profile). Its a 12.5" notebook, so its reasonably portable. To op I think you should get the air, you want something netbook powered, but with a full sized keyboard :) |

2011-04-27 23:06:00 | I stand corrected. 6 hours is very good from a i5. I wouldn't say the macbook air it lacking in the keyboard department. Below is a photo of a macbook (top) and macbook air's (bottom) keyboard. Photo taken from the same height i believe (and not scaled). If anything the Macbook Air has a larger keyboard, and macbooks keyboards are completely adequate. Nomad did your X61T (cant remember) a full size keyboard or not? To solve LAN port issue if you eve use it: www.trademe.co.nz or $49 from the apple store. BTW playtech was/is (don't know if they still are) running a promotion selling mb air's for $1500.

2011-04-27 23:34:00 | Nomad did your X61T (cant remember) a full size keyboard or not? I don't know what is defined as full size. The X61T and the X20 has a smaller keyb than other laptops but larger than some Netbooks so that I could still touch type on them .... Prior to my PC, 2yrs ago, my main computer was a 12" screen laptop for about 10yrs.
