I give up!

I think I'll just buy another DVD-RW.

I thought that new software drivers might fix it, but I can't find any, and although I did find and download new firmware drivers, they seem to be quite a mission to install.

Cheers

1196916 2011-06-04 03:44:00 There is a stubborn streak in me that says 'never give up' . Sometimes I ignore it, most times I don't .

It is a wet and miserable day in Auckland, Jewel of the North, so I went in to battle again . This time I concentrated on getting the removable hard drive cassette working again because I needed to access some instrument programs as a temporary means to bypass the current problems with Print-Screen on my new computer . I had loaded those programs on the old D drive so I couldn't access them until I solved that problem .

So, I reviewed the links in the disk and on the cassette carrier, made one change on spec, shifted the carrier to a different IDE connector, then to my surprise, it burst into life .

I reckoned I was on a roll, so I dropped the latest PCW DVD into the DVD-RW drive and wonder of wonders, it worked . Tried an audio CD too, and now I am being serenaded by the Eagles 'Long Road Out of Eden' double CD .

I guess I'll never know why the absence of the D: drive didn't stop a Samsung CD-RW from working, yet killed the LG DVD-RW, however a win is a win for all that! :D

Thanks to all for the help and support .

Cheers

I had a bit of a laugh from this bit . . .

*-Left the latest inorganic rubbish collection notice right where it could see it to give it a hint of what the future might hold if it doesn't buck its ideas up .

I reckon that's probably what fixed it . Get tough and show it no mercy!
