1196659 2011-04-25 03:02:00 Very similar to my netbook - there should be no problem. Did you set the boot order with the pen drive in the USB socket? johnd (85)
1196660 2011-04-25 03:10:00 Perhaps you need to do this (and +2 what johnd said)

1196661 2011-04-25 05:18:00 There are options when creating bootdisks to do things like emulate floppy, emulate HDD, or run as standard USB drive.

Depending on your PC, some of these may cause a boot failure

Suggest you look into changing this option if you can, as one may work better than the other.

Which is what you had been told earlier I believe. As in the second post!

At least you now have done so and it works.

Unetbootin had some dialogue come up saying to reboot and change the BIOS settings. Unetbootin had added something to the BIOS so I could boot from the USB.

Unetbootin changes the BIOS boot order?

1196666 2011-04-25 07:05:00 Unetbootin changes the BIOS boot order?

I went into the BIOS and found what need to be changed. Had to change the boot order manually. Not sure if Unetbootin changed anything.

So may I assume that you actually, finally, used the advice in post #2?

May I also assume that unetbootin did not change the BIOS?

Just curious as I would not want to pass info to any other person not being sure it worked.

I used the info from posts 2 and 3.

from the UNetbootin website.
After the distribution has been installed, or once done using the system utility, the modification to the bootloader is then undone.
