1196480 2011-04-25 11:36:00 Disable may be the wrong word. I was meaning, make sure the wireless is not connected, usually if you click on the wireless connection,you can select Disconnect.

By rights it shouldn't matter, "but" if the usual wireless is in range, it "may" conflict with the Ethernet. Usually it doesn't, but stranger things have happened.

1196481 2011-04-27 10:15:00 The bad news is disconnecting from wireless connection makes no difference - the good news is that apparently the connection in the cottage I'm going to is wireless, not wired. So, I'm saved until another day. Thanks for the helpful thoughts anyway.
