It's their "best deal ever" promotion.

So they do.

1195989 2011-04-23 01:40:00 Is this deal a no brainer? It's not traffic shaped right?

At preset, I am paying a bit more than that for 10GB ....

1195990 2011-04-23 08:17:00 No it's not shaped in any way. Exceed and you just pay-per-GB. Chilling_Silence (9)

So it's not possible to rate limit?

1195992 2011-04-23 11:56:00 6.2 If you are on a plan with a specified data allowance you will be charged for any data in excess of that allowance at the rates set out on our website

6.3 If you are on an Orcon Broadband flat rate plan which provides for a fixed data allowance and no overage, where you exceed your monthly data allowance your connection speed will be reduced to a maximum of dial up speed once you reach your monthly data allowance.

not sure what the "bestdealever" plan comes under... the "over 30 gig and throttled back to 64k" or not

phoneline plus 30 gig for $81 looks like a damn good deal tho

I'll let you know mid May when my current ISP billing cycle ends. Orcon offer ends end of May.

I'm not planning on changing back to Orcon.

Why you may well ask?

I moved from Telecom so you did not get "any nasty surprises" on your bill. No data cap.

Then Orcon sent me an email that contained a nasty surprise.

The plan I had went from $60.00 per month to a little over $100. So I'm now back to Xtra and have been for some time now.

So "bestdealever" may change at their whim at anytime. Suit yourself. It will not become my problem anyway.

1195995 2011-04-23 22:09:00 I used to be with Orcon. I went over to Actrix and am paying $40.84 per month for 10 Gb. My phone is with Telecom. Bobh (5192)
