| 1160328 | 2010-12-10 22:22:00 | Tongariro National Park show them the most recently active Volcanoes of New Zealand, take a walk across the Tongariro Alpine Crossing or maybe just up Mt Doom so they can say they did the Lord of the Rings climb. Head up to Whakapapa Ski Area and show them Meads Wall where where a scene from LOTR was filmed or take the chairlift up to the Knoll Ridge Cafe (highest in New Zealand) and maybe walk to the crater lake. Not many visitors come to New Zealand not to be impressed with the sight of the Central Plateaus Volcanic peaks and scenery. We take it for granted!!! New Plymouth is an intersting trip maybe combine the drive to Rotorua down around Tongariro NP up to Taumarunui and across the Forgotten Highway to New PLymouth and back up to Auckland? Think like a Tourist to be honest the Central Plateau is about as far south as you want to take them for stuff to do without hitting the (dare I say it) boring area void of the lower north island (welington excluded). |

Coming to NZ and restricting themselves to that area is like going to Paris and spending your vacation in the subway,or a guided tour around a carpark.... Sure they can say they have been here, but whats the point if they only see the suck part? |
