1196080 2011-04-21 04:35:00 Hi guys

I am seriously considering buying a 40GB SSD drive for running my OS on. I currently have Windows 7 Pro on a 1TB HDD. Is it possible for me to buy an SSD and just transfer my OS to the SSD?

thanks in advance

1196081 2011-04-21 04:47:00 Paragon were giving away a free version of some software, designed to do this from a standard Drive to SSD This here (www.paragon-software.com) - it came from from giveawayoftheday a few days back, it was a time limited download, but as long as it was installed it would unpack the original install file, you then register (free anytime) with paragon and they send you the product key.

If you want it, I can upload the unpacked file, and provide a link. Then you simply install it, register and and away you go.

I think paragon is just better at shrinking and writing to the ssd as they work differetly to hdds

From what I found was Win7 Backup&Restore(SP1) will image correctly when you restore back with correct cylinder alignment (512k against 4000K) ,was using Todo for backup but i think is a bit suspect for alignment when imaging back

Like to know what else can be used

1196085 2011-04-21 09:48:00 Well I use Active@ as recommended by Wainuitech its very good, yet when I updated it today it won't let me re-register with my key so I have had to email them about it but I don't suppose America is out of bed yet as its about 4 in the morning there gary67 (56)
