1160498 2010-12-11 00:50:00 Hi Guys

Over the years I (like many of us maybe) have collected a ac/dc adaptors that powered printers and modems that we have thrown away.

I have kept a few of the adaptors.

I was just wondering if I should throw them away, or would some of the techies on here want them (or would they have a pile of them also!)

It seems a shame to throw working transformers away.

1160499 2010-12-11 01:34:00 They are very useful actually. I have a boxful and I'm forever diving in to find the right voltage or power rating for some project or another. I used to buy them from the local Sallies shop but sadly they've largely dropped the electronics/electrical line of business now and are sticking to books, clothing, furniture, household necessities and knick knacks.

Cheers

1160500 2010-12-11 01:47:00 I have a drawer of them! Use them all the time, like Billy T for various projects. pine-o-cleen (2955)
1160501 2010-12-11 05:42:00 I hang on to 'em, don't need 'em often, but when I do, blimey they're useful. ubergeek85 (131)
1160502 2010-12-11 05:52:00 Always need em, of course, you may not I guess (since you want to biff em) but I have an handy dandy swag, and they are forever useful. from powering lasers, speakers, and small pumps to charging old NiMh battery's

The 12v (DC) ones are good for testing PC fans and powering stuff usually run by car cigarette ports

I had a pile the size of Mt Everest under my bed but they are all gone now, just found out my multi adapter (3/4.5/6/9/12v) adapter died

As ubergeek said, I never use them much but at least once a month i'll dive into the pile for a rummage. that being said, a market for 2nd adapters? unlikely. I doubt people want old adapters bad enough to check for digyby's-used-adapters.com

Then again, I may be wrong

1160504 2010-12-11 07:00:00 I wish. can't afford the domain registration for a TLD, its Powering-lasers-knock-on-my-door-please @ <insert non fake address here> :p The Error Guy (14052)
1160505 2010-12-11 19:59:00 They can be picked up from local recycling centres for as little as 50C, I get quite a few computer parts from the one here anything from PCI network cards to keyboards and so far not had any duds gary67 (56)
