1163372 2010-12-19 20:04:00 Got an email this morning that was an IRD scam - blantantly a scam because (aside from the fact that the IRD would never want to inform you that they owe you money) the link at the bottom was a bit.ly one that lead to some random bellsouth page! I'm sure they could try harder than that. I've gotten this one before but this time the email address said noreply@ird.govt.nz. So the email says it's from the IRD's real website, how'd they manage to swing that one?

I forwarded it on to their phishing department. Not sure what exactly they can do about it though.

1163373 2010-12-19 21:18:00 Check "message source" if your email client has the option. (Ctrl+U in Thunderbird).
It is apparently quite easy to fake "sender" address judging by the number of them that arrive at my hotmail address!

1163374 2010-12-19 21:44:00 I'm using Outlook, I had a look but don't think it does. Then again I find Outlook stupidly difficult to use, especially since before I started this job I hadn't used it since for a number of years! Siobhan Keogh (16063)

Stupidly difficult. That's a subjective comment that has no place in a forum that prizes objectivity.

:annoyed:

1163376 2010-12-19 22:19:00 Well I find Outlook stupidly annoying.

Outlook Express on the other hand is awesome.

1163377 2010-12-19 22:28:00 "Stupidly difficult" is actually high praise compared to many opinions of Outlook xxx R2x1 (4628)

1163379 2010-12-19 22:52:00 I like Outlook
Does all I need with minimal fuss or hassle.

Guess the reviews are going to be very Bias then .

Gmail is OK for a basic, free no frills web based email, where as Outlook has a lot more functions and integration with other Office applications .

I suspect the reviews will be like the Norton Antivirus reviews -- ;) and we all know how one sided they are .

I started this job I hadn't used it since for a number of years! So a person doesn't know the program and most of its features, and its automatically condemned to the useless pile ------ Please refer to opening comment .

Edited: What version of outlook are you referring to .

Lesson on how to view its source:

If you are using Outlook 2010 - simply double Click the message to open - Actions/Other Actions/ View Source -- Wasn't that hard ;) Graphical View ( . imagef1 . net . nz/files/Mail . jpg" target="_blank">www . imagef1 . net . nz)

1163381 2010-12-19 23:51:00 Programs that are difficult to use are condemned- when you review something it's your own opinion. Yeesh. I don't know about the Norton ones, they're off the Wire, as in we don't write them ourselves. Siobhan Keogh (16063)
