| 1163242 | 2010-12-19 02:36:00 | High guys Some of you may remember that I have been saying that one way to make NZ a much better place to live in would be to double or treble the number of people we have here to say 8 or 10 or 12 million. More jobs, more entrepeneurs, more entertainment, more vibrant, more economies of scale. And you will be aware that a lot of people like to keep NZ small and sleepy, wide open spaces, fishing, beaches etc, "good people only" etc. Well I just read an article in a Canadian newspaper where some expert was calling for their population to be increased from 30 million to 100 million for exactly the same reasons I have been saying. |

Look at all the problems we face today. 6.6 billion people sharing finite and fragile natural resources amongst each other, plants and animals. Shivers! For a start, do we have the resources to cater for more people, most of our resources are being blocked by the tree huggers'. Can't touch the land either, e.g. McKenzie country, for dairying, Central Otago for wind power, just two for starters. There are plenty of deserts' which could be brought into production with piping desalinated sea water, just as they pipe oil and gas for b***** miles. Something our Aussie cousins should be doing with the Australian outback, they seem to have the wealth with which to do it with. Lurking. |

Personally I think we just need to fine tune our existing population, Kill off the grievance industry and the sepreatist movement, send all the overstayers back to the islands, trim all denifits to 10% of their current level. Shoot a few hundred crims and give the rest free land on an island somewhere (Aussie) and revoke their citizen ship. The likes of 12v's can go with them to be their *****. |

| 1163250 | 2010-12-19 04:47:00 | If you want to live in an economy with more people go and do so. I prefer to live in an economy with less people which is why I came here. We all have to make choices in life and everyone is free to make those choices. All right some in the world aren't free to make choices but most in New Zealand are | gary67 (56) | ||
