| 1162469 | 2010-12-16 06:47:00 | any idea on how i determine whether my water pressure at the house is mains, unequal or low ? the hot water cylinder is all wrapped up in the foil so i'd prefer not to take this off to google the brand etc if there is another way. Need to replace the kitchen tap and see there are several options pressure wise. cheers |

| 1162470 | 2010-12-16 07:08:00 | This is from an ex Electrician, who has replaced a lot of tank elements. Mains pressure is about 100 lbs per sq inch.. Hot water pressure is about 15 lbs per sq inch. If your hot water comes out of the tap around the same pressure as the cold, than you have a high pressure tank. If it is much lower, then it will be a low pressure tank. PJ |

Low pressure is generally pressure that is unsuitable for use Unequal pressure is when say your hot water outputs a low pressure compared to your cold water, in this instance you have unequal pressures |

| 1162476 | 2010-12-16 20:52:00 | Would it be fair to say that low presure tanks are relatively short & squat, whereas high pressure tanks are tall & thin. So to speak. Also, look at the bottom of the tank cupboard, or under the house. Look for a brass rounded gadget. Possibly with a valve tap in the pipework. This is the high to low pressure regulater.. If so it is an unequal pressure system, which is BY FAR the most likely in a house the age of yours. High pressure mains systems are a much more recent development. | Richard (739) | ||
