1161972 2010-12-15 22:12:00 Does anyone know where I can source some LCD panels? I don't really want to buy a whole new monitor just to rip it apart and take the panel out. all I need is the LCD panel and driving circuitry, is there a place in NZ (or china) that supplys parts?

Also if you know any good LCD models that don't use FFC cables from the LCD panel to the driving board (or what ever it's called) can you tell me, I all ready broke one, not a fan of FFC.

Cheers

1161973 2010-12-16 02:22:00 Not too sure on that sorry, but I'd have a quick squiz on trademe for busted laptops that still have good LCDs. They can usually be found pretty cheap (under $20), and they have proper copper cables running between the panel and the motherboard. Might be a challenge to figure out which wires do what though! If you're lucky it might just be a standard DVI connection, but I doubt it, as it would be better to output it into a more 'direct to screen' format. ubergeek85 (131)
1161974 2010-12-16 04:58:00 thats the problem with laptop displays, you need to actually get the graphics driving hardware out of the mobo. its all build in usually. I have a laptop LCD that I stripped down (it had FFC cables) without breaking so if you have any ideas on getting it to work that would be great. I have the LCD inverter as well (bonus!) 1161975 2010-12-16 05:05:00 After my post up there I did a bit of research. It looks like you might be able to buy converters, which hook to the LCD wiring and then provide a DVI/VGA interface, however their price tends to be a little high (or at least they used to be, the info I found was quite old).
