Steps for installing custom android: 1) Boot into recovery mode (The one you installed (Clockwork) ) 2) Select Factory Reset and Wipe delvik cache 3) Select Update from SD Card Zip. 4) Reboot and Done! |

My model (lg optimus gt540) is not on the list. :pf1mobmini:I've done a bit of research as I mentioned I would earlier, and found the following: ClockworkMod does not officially support your phone (yet), however there are unofficial builds of it that might. These builds appear to have a few known issues, a couple of which may render your recovery system largely useless (the main issue here is an inability to mount the system partition from recovery). Note that you cannot use ROM manager on your phone to flash ClockworkMod; you will need to do this via fastboot. ROM Manager doesn't support your phone either - so flashing any image offered through this app is a big no-no, and will almost certainly cause you some major grief. While it *may* be possible to use it to flash a specific image sourced from elsewhere, this is also riskier. Noting the above, would you like me to find you some alternative instructions that will get a custom image onto your phone, or would you prefer to wait until ROM Manager / ClockworkMod has added support for your phone? Note that if you don't want to wait, the flashing process is definitely going to be more complex, and if you screw it up it'll be a lot harder to undo. If you would still like a custom image, do you know which one you'd like to run? Note that CyanogenMod doesn't support the GT540 either; there is an unofficial port of it, however this isn't complete and is minus a few features and plus a few bugs. |

I TXT, PXT, call, skype and use the net thats it really, oh and email but thats not importantOK - note that this will be at your own risk; I'll do my best to ensure that the information I provide is correct, but be aware that I don't have one of these phones to test it with beforehand. Worst-case scenario is a shiny new paperweight that will take more technical skill than I suspect you have to fix. If you still want to install a custom image (seems like an *awful* lot of trouble to go to for a free txting app that has awful feedback and seemingly incompetent programmers, but I digress), do you know which image you want to run? Which version of Android is on the phone at the moment? Edit: Note also that recent feedback on that app seems to indicate that they no longer offer free txting to many destinations - you may wish to consider this before continuing. |

Do you know which image you want to run, or are you not understanding what I'm asking here? This is the third time I've asked; please let me know if you need me to clarify the question. | Erayd (23) | ||
