1162588 2010-12-16 10:50:00 Samsung Galaxy S i9000T (store.telecom.co.nz) would be the next best (readily available in NZ anyway).

Not sure why a developer wouldn't design an app to run off either the phone or the SD card - might be something technical...

Pine-o-cleen was going to have a crack with the Android SDK - maybe he could answer that

Will do some research about it in the meantime

Or the Samsung Galaxy.

I'm stoaked as with my N1, running the MIUI ROM on it at the moment after using CyanogenMod for 6 months. Freakin loving it!!

Like johcar, I'm on XT.

Most of the time devs don't want it running off the SD card due to anti-copy reasons I believe? Makes it harder for the average joe to do something ... I could be mistaken though.

I used to use WinAmp on my N1 when I was running CyanogenMod6, but now the default MIUI app does me fine, finds lyrics and the likes, nice basic visualization...

1162591 2010-12-16 19:54:00 Reading some reviews about the Galaxy S, people seem to not be happy with it.
A few issues apparently.

wouldn't be a high amount of apps in that boat i'd imagine.

how big's the SD card you run/how much music?

i'd have to downsize my collection to fit on an SD card, micro sd isnt it?

if you ever want to get rid of your N1 for some reason, let me know :D

1162592 2010-12-16 20:53:00 I have a 16GB microSD (Class 10), because the Class 10 32GB cards weren't available for a less than exorbitant price when I got it - and I wanted a Class 10 specifically to optimise the app-running-from-SD experience.

I have severely cut down my music collection from what I had on the iPhone, but I still have 8GB free on the card, so plenty of scope to reassess what I want to listen to...

Interesting; I did a lot of research before getting my mSD, and the conclusion I arrived at was that the brand was actually more important than the class (beyond class 6) for speed; I ended up getting an A-Data 16Gb, and read that staying away from cheaper brands like Kingston was advisable. Speed is fine on my Galaxy S.
