Do you notice that when a player becomes an All Black, they always say they are really proud to have picked to play for the All Blacks, or to wear the Black jersey. They don't say they are proud to being playing for New Zealand. The same applies to the New Zealand Rugby league team, they always want to play for the Jersey, not New Zealand. And yes or obsession with giving our New Zealand teams white or black name seems to be a very New Zealand thing. Do the European soccer teams have names ? Or Brazil or Argentina ? |
