1197733 2011-04-27 12:14:00 I have a video file of Joanna Lumley's Catwoman documentary which calls itself PDTV.Xvid.AC3.MVGroup.org.avi.

Part of that I assume means its pure digital television and Xvid is a DVD codec? AC3 is a mystery. AVI is a standard video format? Never been clear on that.

Anyway, it plays beautifully in WMP and in Intervideo WinDVD 5...but silently. No sound at all. Not a sausage.

What am I missing please?

I'm assuming that your filename reflects the contents of the file.

I now recall having problems paying DVDs of The Wire on WMP once. I downloaded Xvid codecs but in the end used Win DVD which worked. Not this time though.

All good, my family will enjoy this.
