2011-04-27 02:44:00 | coupla days ago when starting up, nothing appeared on screen, thought maybe the graphics card was faulty so unclipped it gave it a bit of a clean popped it back in and no problem with the screen, but, every now and then when opening a programme this "Bad Image" window appears, sometimes a number follow each other, sometimes a single one - after clicking through them some progs will then open but some don't - the message reads this from SpyBotSD the application or DLL C:\WINDOW\system32.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette I haven't got an installation diskette, I have an XP OS disk (is there a difference?) - also have the Radeon X700 disk - i ran that but no difference so i downloaded some new drivers, still no change - maybe I should reinstall XP, but would like to know what's actually happening here - can anyone help out please?

2011-04-27 02:52:00 | If teatimer is running disable it. Sounds like youre infected with something (or it was infected) if this is XP. The XP I'm in (in virtualPC), doesnt have that file in the windows folder Get ccleaner (www.ccleaner.com) install then run it. Then go to tools / startup. See if that entry is there. If it is highlight it, then delete it

2011-04-27 03:25:00 | disabled teatimer, no change, mind you the bad image window appears also with e.g. Aida32 - i run Ccleaner regularly Speedy - nothing in the tools/startup - think you're right about infected, system has slowed a lot recently and the open window sometimes goes up & down without the use of the vertical elevator, spose that's only minor - any thoughts re a reinstall? | jayal (1291) | |
2011-04-27 03:39:00 | Get teamviewer (www.teamviewer.com) run it. PM the ID and password it gives you. And I'll have a look if you like. Does it only come up when you boot into windows (most of the time)? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2011-04-27 03:53:00 | this from SpyBotSD the application or DLL C:\WINDOW\system32 . dll is not a valid Windows image . Meaning it isn't a legit windows file . It's spyware . Get rid of it .

2011-04-27 04:22:00 | Looks like something has screwed XP up. Its also got a window folder (which shouldnt be there). And well as a windows folder. And it looks like everything that tries to run is looking in the window folder | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2011-04-27 05:17:00 | Looks like someone or something changed the windir = under environment to C:\window instead of C:\windows (I'm guessing this is how the window folder was created). And everything that tried to run, was looking in the wrong place / folder. So, now its got both of them. And both also include the updates, and other folders and files | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
