1197327 2011-04-26 22:30:00 I'm running avast5.1 (latest update) on a win2k system.

Avast automatically starts and puts an icon in the system tray when m/c is turned on and booted.

How can I prevent this from occurring.

There is no command for this in the startup folder in the documents and settings/users area.

Cheers,

I can suppress the sheilds from operating but am unable to prevent it loading at boot time.

1197328 2011-04-26 22:58:00 Uninstall it? Heh. Otherwise there's probably a Service and/or a Run key entry for it. inphinity (7274)

1197330 2011-04-27 01:32:00 Hi, I t appears that in CCCleaner on the "tools/startup" page there is an entry to stop this automatic startup at boot time.
Unfortunately it will not allow me to disable it.
I get an error msg ..."access denied"

Any thoughts from anyone ?
cheers,

1197331 2011-04-27 01:34:00 If you just want an "on demand" scanner, use ClamWin. Some real-time scanners don't like being disabled. Renegade (16270)
1197332 2011-04-27 01:52:00 There's no point having it. If you stop it from running. You may as well remove it Speedy Gonzales (78)
1197333 2011-04-27 02:06:00 Hi Speedy, yes, but avast slows everything up so much, even with the shields dis-abled. jupiter1 (2578)
